Of all the people I admire, my grandmother takes first prize... Just a couple of months ago...she read an environmental awareness book called 2030: Confronting Thermageddon in Our Lifetime by Robert Hunter. The book both informed and scared her...Through numerous news interviews and newspaper articles (she) spread the word and raised awareness of global warming. By driving over 10,500 for her cause, (she) has shown me that one person can make a difference. I used to think that I could never make a huge impact on the world by myself. We want to show the world, through the media, an example of someone who has been so deeply moved by the existing and inevitably worsening climate changes that she had to let every MP in Canada know about it by buying them a copy of the book that transformed her life on the issue. This shows, amongst other things, that the older generation is concerned to the point of action.  That there are people alive today who want things to be done now.  Who are not going to just pass the responsibility on to their children.  In part because they helped create the problem, but mostly because they love their children and their grandchildren.
