MY JOURNEY WAS AN ACT OF LOVE. . .
. . . FOR YOU , FOR ALL THE WORLD
“Sometimes you feel that your whole life has led you to a special time and place, and you have been changed forever. At age 71, I fell in love;  I lost my heart to the whole world. I was already in love with my family and with the friends whom I treasure, and so when I bought Robert Hunter's book 2030: Confronting Thermageddon in Our Lifetime and realized that within just a few decades life on our planet would become unbearable, I was overwhelmed, as if an outside force had taken over my life. And I decided to do all I could to prevent this from happening to the people I love.

“When I spoke of  my fears, people said, “Let’s hope it doesn’t happen.” And that's when I realized that if something weren’t done to change the course of events, “IT” would indeed happen. Then my brain began to make a series of “clicks,” something like clicking to the next page on the web, or turning on the lights in a room. For the next two months I took one giant step after another, propelled by an energy I had never felt before. I think only love can make you this strong.

“You don’t have to get to be a grandmother to realize that if something is broken, as is our poor planet, it’s a good idea to get out the owner’s manual.
2030 is such a “manual,” but unlike most others, it is powerfully written and easy to understand. It seemed to me that if there were a way to get all the Members of Parliament to read it, then they could not fail to reach the right decisions about global warming. So the next step was to contact the Sierra Club of Canada, actively involved in climate change issues, and ask them if they could help me implement this.  They responded immediately with their full support, without which none of this could have happened.  I will be forever grateful to this fine organization.

“Another logical step was to encourage everyone else I could to read Hunter’s book. So I got it into our three bookstores and our library here, writing a book review in the form of a letter-to-the-editor for our local newspaper so people would become interested. “This is the hottest book on global warming in print,” I said, and it is true. I also wrote reviews for
www.amazon.ca and www.chapters.ca , where the book can be ordered. Just type in the keyword “2030,” and it will pop right up. You can use a US credit card; they do the currency conversion for you. There’s no duty on books, incidentally, so anyone in the US can order it from these websites. Unfortunately, US book stores no longer carry the Canadian edition, but there will be an American edition coming out in February, with the title simply Thermageddon.  My hope is that others all over Canada and the United States take similar action to get Hunter’s book distributed and read. They’ll have fun doing this, I can promise.

“During my trip I met many wonderful people and made new friends for life. I saw in their eyes that they recognized that mine was a mission of love, and I know they loved me for making it. I have never felt so fulfilled, and there is simply no way I can ever thank the many people I met for their extraordinary generosity and kindness to me. Especially I want to thank Bob Hunter and his family - brilliant minds all, filled with boundless compassion for humanity and love for our earth. I will be inspired by their great energy and courage all my days.

“The message I have for you all is that it is never too late to do something special, to make a strong statement, to take action. We all have in us more love and more power for good than we can believe. Knowing this, I know now more than ever that it is possible to save our planet.

“My beautiful and talented daughter Melissa at
cobaltmel@yahoo.com designed this website. Please let Melissa know if you have any comments, corrections or suggestions. We really want to hear from you all.

"Finally, I want to thank my sweet dog Arta, who was the finest companion I could have had, for her love, her patience and her polite disregard of the occasional cuss word. She truly deserves an award, if for nothing else, for being the first white German Shepherd to travel 10,500 kilometers round trip from Victoria to Ottawa with a grandmother at the wheel.".
